Seven Wisconsin companies each will receive a $75,000 grant under a new program aimed at helping them commercialize their products.
The first-ever grants are being distributed by a program called SBIR Advance. The program is funded with $1 million from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. and administered by the UW-Extension Center for Technology Commercialization.
All of the companies have already received federal grants — either Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) or Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grants. But they aren't able to use those funds for activities like patent work and customer development and validation.
Madison companies receiving the grants are: C-Motive Technologies Inc.; Isthmus Biosciences Inc.; Nutrient Recovery and Upcycling LLC; and Pan Genome Systems Inc. Other recipients are: V-Glass LLC, Milwaukee; Fiberstar Bio-Ingredient Technologies Inc., Eau Claire; Medical Cyberworlds Inc., Verona.
